A Simple LinkedIn Sales Navigator Trick to Find Warm Leads

How to use LinkedIn Sales Navigator for prospecting without defaulting to cold outreach

A Simple LinkedIn Sales Navigator Trick to Find Warm Leads

Most LinkedIn prospecting is cold.

And cold outreach gets ignored.

That is why more activity on its own rarely fixes the problem.

LinkedIn Sales Navigator can help, but only if you use it for something better than building longer lead lists.

The real opportunity is warmer leads.

That is where better reply rates usually begin.

The point is not more leads

A lot of LinkedIn Sales Navigator tips are really just filtering advice.

Add another title.

Add another geography.

Build another list.

That can help, but it does not change the underlying problem.

If the outreach is still cold, it still feels cold.

The better question is:

how do you use LinkedIn Sales Navigator for prospecting in a way that gives you more context, more relevance, and less friction?

For me, the answer is simple.

Do not just look for more people.

Look for warmer ways into the people you already want to reach.

This is one of the simplest LinkedIn prospecting strategies I know.

Start in Sales Navigator lead search.

Then do this:

  1. Set Current company to your own organisation.
  2. Filter by VP+ or whatever seniority level matters in your world.
  3. If you work in a large business, narrow by geography and relevant functions so the results stay useful.
  4. Save the search.
  5. Track new executives joining your company.

That is the first move.

It does not look dramatic.

But it creates a very different prospecting surface.

Where the value actually is

The real value starts after the new executive joins.

Send them a connection request.

Welcome them to the organisation.

Keep it normal.

Once they accept, go back into LinkedIn Sales Navigator and run a second search.

Use the Connections of filter with that new executive’s name.

Then layer in the rest of the context:

  • your territory or account list
  • the titles you are trying to meet
  • any relevant geography filters

Now you are not looking at a generic list.

You are looking at people your new executive already knows, plus the warmth signals around those relationships:

former colleague, same city, same school, same employer, shared history.

That is a very different starting point from ordinary cold outreach.

Why this works

If you want to know how to find warm leads on LinkedIn, this is the logic.

Warm connections outperform cold outreach because they arrive with context.

The buyer is not seeing a random name appear out of nowhere.

There is already a thread to pull on.

Shared context increases the chance of a reply.

Introductions reduce friction.

And even when no formal introduction happens, the outreach is still less cold because it is anchored in a real relationship graph rather than a scraped list.

That is why this works better than many conventional LinkedIn Sales Navigator tips.

It is not just about search accuracy.

It is about search quality.

The Prospect Experience difference

From the prospect’s side, a warm approach feels different.

It feels more relevant.

It feels more trustworthy.

It feels less like someone has dropped them into a sequence and more like there is an actual reason this conversation is happening.

That is a Prospect Experience advantage.

Most buyers do not object to outreach because it is outreach.

They object because it feels context-free.

Warmth changes that.

This works beyond new executives

The same logic applies more broadly.

You can use it with existing leaders.

You can use it with internal champions.

You can use it for network mapping across target accounts.

That is where the better LinkedIn prospecting strategies tend to emerge.

Not from chasing more names, but from getting closer to the relationships that already exist around the account.

Cold outreach scales activity. Warm outreach scales results.

LinkedIn Sales Navigator is useful.

But it is still just a tool.

The win is not having more filters.

The win is using those filters to find warmer paths into the right people.

Cold outreach scales activity.

Warm outreach scales results.
